I have a canon HR10 (not too long ago bought). I inserted a new mini DVD-R in it and a screen appeared to initialize the disk. I chose to use SD mode in recording and as soon as it initialized,I was in a position to record when the “record pause” indicator on the screen appeared. I press record and 5 seconds later the screen shows “cannot record- examine the disk” then ” prevent moving the camcorder” in red. This happens even when I insert an additional new dvd-r in it. What’s the issue here, because i cannot record something previous 2 seconds?
What i mean by “SD” mode is that i chose to record in “regular definition” rather than “high definition”

not positive what SD mode means but perhaps it meant that you were making use of an SD card and given that you do not have 1 in you do not have a lo of time to record. See if changing the mode fixes anything.

Its hard to diagnose, it could be the batch of Dvd’s you are making use of, cheap and cheerful are not often that excellent.
If you look on the camera there could be a reset button to restore factory defaults could be i the menu or a tiny button possibly beneath the screen.
If you have just got it then just pop back to where you brought it from, its referred to as client service, let them see what the dilemma is.
Hope you get it sorted out.

Hmm. Interesting, could it be that the disc platter is going faulty?
As we know when you put the disc in your camcorder, the disc spins. Could the platter be knocked so that it is not reading the disc appropriately, and moving the camcorder is triggering it “scrape” against the drive?
(Consider like placing a chipped CD in a CD player. A related factor).
Other than that… I actually have no thought… :S
