How sturdy are digital camera/camcorder sports mounts?
How sturdy are the “homemade” and purchasable camera and camcorder sporting mounts like the ones manufactured by GoPro (Goprocamera.com)? Just seems like even a gentle crash could “break” the digital camera from the screw-on mount.

Hi there

No mount is indestructible, it just depends on what you want to do with it, there are limits, you can of course make your own (if you can weld) if there is no issue with excess weight. if you will need a light compact mount then there is a trade off, among power and bodyweight. you just have to get the correct stability.

Several of the comapnies will develop you a mount (at a expense) to your own specs. using not only a screw mount but probably some clamps and/or ties, will enhance the strength
