I have a samsung scd 103 camcorder and I would like to record some white noise off of my television for use in a quick film. I know there is a way employing the vcr and the a/v cords but I have not seen any genuine concert answer to it aside from”just hook up a/v cables” If any person can point me in the proper path it would be much appreciated.

you cant unless your camcorder has a video in line which it wont.

If all you want is white noise, a lot of editing applications come with clips like that, or you can download 1. But to answer your query, your camcorder need to have come with a cable with red, white, and yellow RCA connectors on 1 end and a modest plug that looks like a headphone jack on the other finish. Hook the RCA connectors to the video and audio out on your Tv (yellow is video, other two are audio). Connect the other end to your camcorder’s a/v jack. Put the camcorder in playback/VCR mode and press record. This works with most camcorders, but if it doesn’t, verify the user manual.

I have TV tuner capture card. How much White noise do you need? I can send a clip to you. What else do you need for the project?

sad to say, contrary to all the guys who answered above, your camcorder model doesn’t support directly receiving and recording analog signal from whatever source, but it can receive and record digital signal through the DV port (using 4x4pin firewire cable). and tvs don’t have this kind of port.
However, editing softwares have this kind of effect that you wanted, just browse through the effects tool of your editing software. or ask somebody here (like Spin)to send you a clip of that white noise or no signal effect.
